Introduction to the 2013 Innovation Awards for IT Products for Senior Care
“Digital Innovation for Senior Care —— driven by care, innovation and transformation”
As the senior population increases rapidly, more attention has been drawn to the ageing market. In line with this current situation, this contest is focused on how to make better use of the information technology to provide new products and solutions for the ageing people, in order to propel the senior service industry via innovation. Care, Innovation and transformation are three keywords for this year’s theme.
Care: We aim to encourage researches and development on the IT products for serving the ageing and aiding the care givers. Based on a deep understanding of the market demand, we seek for IT products with practical value for the senior people.
Innovation: Based on the explicit and implicit demand from the senior people and the rigid demand from the care givers, we make the most of the emerging information technology and skills to bring out new and practical solutions for the senior care.
Transformation: Products for the senior people should be practical, economical and market-oriented, so we need to bridge the gap between innovative solutions and the manufacturing industry, realizing the transformation from pure concepts to real manufacture.
1.Objectives
Few IT products and solutions are available in China now and their performance is not satisfactory enough due to the single function, low ratio of multi-purpose utilization and relatively high prices. In order to improve the current situation, the Senior Service Informatics Development Committee (SSIDC) launched the 2013 Innovation Awards for IT Products for Senior Care. Hopefully, it will promote more active and creative work of the senior care informatics, speed up the growth of senior service industry and facilitate its technological innovation and product development.
2.Schedule
Launch Ceremony: May 3, 2013 (at the National Conference Center, Beijing)
Time for Submission: May 3 – Oct. 31, 2013
Time for Evaluation: Nov. 1, 2013 – Apr. 30, 2014
3.The Panel
Entries submitted by individuals or groups will be evaluated by the Panel which is expected to include a total of 10 experts—2-3 from the government, 2-4 from the technical sector, 2-3 from the business sector and 1-2 representatives of the users.
4.Instructions
Specific instructions regarding submission, detailed schedule, standards for evaluation and the form of awards will be posted on the SSIDC website soon.
5.Others
The power of interpretation of the contest shall be vested in the Senior Service Informatics Development Committee.
